Statement of Faith

SpringHill Bible Fellowship Church (SBFC) are ordinary people seeking an extraordinary God, through the study of the inspired Word of God, in prayer and worship. SBFC believes in the victory and freedom we have in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ for our sins at the cross. Romans 3:21-24

THE SCRIPTURES: The 66 books of the Holy Bible are the inspired Living Word of God in their entirety without error. The books were written by men divinely. They are the final authority for a Christian’s life. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation. Psalms 33:4 For the word of the LORD is upright. And His work is done in faithfulness.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. Deuteronomy 4:1-2; John 5:39; Luke 24:27; Romans 15:4

THE TRINITY OF GOD: We believe in One God who exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Matthew 3:16-17

  1. GOD THE FATHER: God the Father is the Author, Holy, Sovereign, Creator, Eternal, Majestic, Infinite, All Loving, All Powerful, Perfect, Unchanging, All Knowing, Just, Faithful, Righteous, Spirit, Everywhere, Worthy of Praise: Genesis 1:1-2:26; Deuteronomy 7:9; Job 34:12; Psalms 103:8; Psalm 139; Psalms 145:3; Isaiah 30:18; Isaiah 61:8; Matthew 10:29-30; John 3:16; Romans 3; Ephesians 4:6, 1 John 3:20; 1 John 4:7; Isaiah 40:28-29. The LORD is the everlasting God.

GOD THE SON: Christ is the Eternal Son of God; the Deity of Jesus Christ: Hebrews 1:3: The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Virgin birth: Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9; Matthew 1:1-25; John 1:29. The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The Scriptures testify about Jesus: Matthew 26:56; Luke 4:21; John 5:39; John 19:36. The Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ: Isaiah 53, Psalm 22, 1 Corinthians 15; Matthew 27:32-66; Mark 16:19; Luke 24:45-53. Jesus Christ the Son of Man is fully God and fully man yet without sin- John 1:1, 14; Romans 5; 1 Corinthians 15:46-47; Matthew 20:28. Our great High Priest: Hebrews 4:14-16. The Prophets and the Law testify about Jesus: Luke 24:44-47. The Son of Man came willingly into the world to give eternal life and to do the will of the Father: John 3:17; 5:24-27; 10:9; 17:15. Christ will return: Matthew 24:29-31; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
  3. HOLY SPIRIT: Is the Spirit of God, the third person of the trinity. He convicts mankind of sin, righteousness and judgment. The Spirit calls men to the Savior, and effects regeneration and baptizing believers into the body of Christ. The Spirit takes residence in each believer, seals the believer with a guarantee of salvation, cultivating Christian character, teaches, bestows spiritual gifts, and lives to glorify God. Ephesians 1:13-14 When you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation and when you believed in Him, you were sealed with the promise of the Holy Spirit. He is a down payment of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession, to the praise of His Glory. Joel 2:28-29; Psalms 51:11-12; Isaiah 11:1-3; Isaiah 61:1-3. Virgin Birth: Luke 1:35. Jesus led by the Spirit: Luke 4:1; 18-21. The Counselor: John 15:26; John 16:7-14. The Spirit gives life & the Spirit of adoption: Acts 1:4-8; 2:1-4; Romans 8:1-30. Sealed: Ephesians 4:30.

MAN: Was created in the image of God, God also created man to have a personal relationship with Him. Genesis 1:26-27. Man disobeyed God’s command in the Garden of Eden causing sin, death and decay to enter the world. Genesis 3:17-19; Galatians 6:8; Romans 5:12-21.

SALVATION: All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. We must confess with our heart and believe Jesus Christ is Lord and that He died for our sins, repent of our sin and to turn from them. There is no salvation apart from a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. Salvation cannot be earned; this is a gift from God by believing we are justified by faith in Jesus Christ. THE CHURCH: The Church is the universal body of Jesus Christ and He is head of the Church. All who believe upon Jesus as Lord and Savior are part of the body of Christ. Matthew 16:15-19; John 3:1-15; Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

ORDINANCES: Our Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the Church: full immersion water baptism for believers and the Lord’s Supper. Matthew 3:13-17; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Luke 22:19-20

CHRIST’S RETURN: Jesus will return, in the same way that He was seen going into Heaven. Matthew 24:37-44; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

THE DAY OF THE LORD: The final judgment and eternal reward for the body of believers. The great day of the Lord is rapidly approaching. Zephaniah 1:14; Revelation 20:11-13
